Savathun trapped rhulk in the pyramid for a reason. Fynch stated Savathun was terrified of rhulk, and any hive that mentioned that were killed. So in a 1v1 Savathun would try to escape rhulk and come up with a plan because she wouldn't win. I always thought the europan pyramid was a gift from the witness.
Savathun abandoning the sword logic and the witness was the final atonement. It fit the travelers conditions for making guardians "Devotion, self sacrifice, death". Savathun was devoted to her own cause and protecting the traveler. Even going against the witnesses wishes.
